Dalai Lama to Visit Britain for 10 Days


Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will visit Britain for ten day starting on 14 June for a range of speaking events for young people in United Kingdom.The 76-year-old Buddhist is scheduled to talk to youths at the Manchester Arena (16 June), University of Westminster, London (19 June), and the London School of Economics and Political Science (20 June). The Dalai Lama will also engage with young people at the events in Leeds, the Usher Hall, Edinburgh, Caird Hall, Dundee and at the Eden Court Theatre, Inverness.

The 1989 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate will be presenting Youth Compassion Awards to a young person aged between 10 – 24 in Manchester, London and Edinburgh.

The Dalai Lama will also be speaking on ‘Ethics in Business’ to business leaders in Leeds (15 June), meeting with Tibetan, Nepalese and Mongolian Buddhist communities, and religious leaders. In addition, he will be attending inter faith prayers in Westminster Abbey on June 20, and meeting with Parliamentarians at Westminster and in Edinburgh.

The Dalai Lama’s last visit to the UK was in May 2012 to receive the Templeton Prize where he met with the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Rowan Williams, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister.
