Dalai Lama Returns to Dharamsala After Successful Eye Surgery

The Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama arrived his hometown Dharamsala today after a successful eye surgery in All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.

The Dalai Lama had a cataract removed from his left eye on January 22. Dr. Tsetan Dorjee Sadhutsang, personal physician to the Dalai Lama says the surgery was conducted by a team of highly experienced doctors led by Dr J S Titiyal at AIIM’s Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences. The doctors had removed the cataract in the left eye and replaced it with an artificial lens.

In a follow-up checkup two days after his surgery, the doctors said the 76-year-old Buddhist leader’s vision has been restored. The Dalai Lama has been resting at Tibetan Youth Hostel in Rohini Delhi since his check-up.
