The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) based in Dharamsala, North India honored Takna Jigme Sangpo, the longest serving political prisoner of Tibet on January 23, 2014.

Takna Jigme Sangpo is a 86 year old man, who was initially arrested in 1960 with the allegation that he was corrupting minds of children with reactionary ideas while teaching at the Lhasa Primary School.

After a series of arrests and probation, he was finally released on medical parole after efforts made by the CTA and international community at the age of 76 on March 31, 2002.
