Tibetan Man Receives Death Sentence for Wife’s Self-immolation

​Chinese authorities in Ngaba, Qiang Prefecture, Sichuan Province have given Drolma Kyab, a 32 year old Tibetan man death sentence for allegedly killing his wife Kunchok Wangmo, who had self-immolated five months prior to this sentencing.

According to the Xinhua report quoting court authorities, Kyab had strangled his wife to death at 11pm on March 11, 2013 following a heated argument concerning his drinking problem, after which he burned his wife’s body to make it appear as though she had set herself ablaze.

Kyab was the sole bread winner of the family, which now consists only of his eight year-old daughter and his aged mother.
