On September 17 2013, Khawa Karpo Tibet Culture Center based in Dharamsala, India launched a book by Bawa Phuntsok Wangyal, a veteran Tibetan communist living in China.
Chung Tsering, a Tibetan writer who had previously translated a biography of Bawa Phuntsok Wangyal into Tibetan from English spoke about his views on the writer and his latest book which focuses mainly on nationalism. “This is one of its kinds on issues concerning Tibet and China” he said.
“Bawa Phuntsok Wangyal is a witness to Tibet's history at a critical era and his book has special importance to history of Tibet despite Tibetans having differed views on him” said Bhuchung D Sonam, another Tibetan writer who has also translated works of Bawa Phuntsok Wangyal.
The book contains 878 pages including Bawa Phuntsok Wangyal’s views on the subject of nationalism and China's policies towards the different nationalities, and the letters he had written to various Chinese political leaders such as Xi Jinping on August 2011.
