Nepal to Host Second International Buddhist Conference at Lumbini - 2004-11-20


Buddhist Scholars and monks from around the world will meet in Lumbini, Nepal at the end of this month for three days to consider a plan to promote Lumbini, the birth place of Gautama Buddha, as world peace city. The three-day world Buddhist Summit starting on Nov.30, will seek international cooperation and support to develop Lumbini. The first International conference was held five years ago. Around 2,000 delegates from the different parts of the world will participate in this conference. Due to Chinese aid in the development of Nepal, the organizers had not invited the Dalai lama to the summit. But, some Tibetan monastic head Lama had been invited to the conference.
