Spokesmen for the Dalai Lama say the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader will meet with Pope John Paul during a visit to Italy from November 25 to 28.
The meeting will reportedly take place on November 27th, at a site yet to be announced. The Dalai Lama and Pope have held meetings before, most recently in 1999,the Interreligious Assembly.
While in Italy, the Dalai Lama plans to attend a conference of Nobel laureates organized by the Gorbochev Foundation who will discuss the role of ethics in politics and economics.
Spokesmen say the Tibetan leader will also give a speech in Rome on November 26th, and will meet with Italian lawmakers who have formed a parliamentary group dedicated to Tibet.
