Statement issued by the Dalai Lama’s Secretary Mr. Tenzin Geyche Tethong, the Tibetan leader “is very pleased with this development and expresses his desire to move this process forward to substantive negotiations on the Tibet problem.”
The delegations consist of Lodi Gyaltsen Gyari, special envoy of the Dalai Lama and Mr. Kalsang Gyaltsen, envoy of the Dalai Lama and two senior assistants. This is their second trip since they last visited Beijing and some other areas including Lhasa in September 2002. The statement from the Dalai Lama’s office says the latest visit is a continuation of the process begun last September when they sought to re-establish contact with Chinese leadership.
