Tibetans Demand Release of Tulku Tenzin Delek in The Latest Protest བོད་སྐད།


An unknown number of Tibetans have been detained in Sichuan following a protest demanding the release of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche.

Tenzin Delek Rinpoche is a Buddhist Lama from Lithang, eastern Tibet. In 2002, he was sentenced to death by the Chinese authorities for alleged involvement in a series of unsolved bombings. Following international protest, his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment in 2005, and he remains in jail.

Interview with a Tibetan in South India who is in close contact with Tibetans in Tibet said, Chinese authorities on Sunday arrested 40 Tibetans and the number of Tibetans held in detention swelled to 70 in Monday. This demonstration includes the 21 villagers from upper, middle, and lower Golok.
