Tibet official says talks with China to end བོད་སྐད།

Two envoys of the Dalai Lama will return to India on Wednesday after another round of talks with China, a Tibetan official said.

Samdhong Rinpoche, prime minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile in Dharmsala, India, said talks began at 9 a.m. in Beijing on Tuesday, and that the envoys were returning to New Delhi on Wednesday night. He gave no other details.

Telephones rang unanswered Wednesday at the United Front Work Department, the central government office in charge of previous meetings.

The envoys, Lodi Gyari and Kelsang Gyaltsen, arrived in Beijing last Thursday to meet Chinese officials. It was not known who they met or the outcome of the discussions.

After the last meeting, Lodi Gyari said China was not serious about resolving the Tibetan issue and future talks would be useless unless it had a change of heart.
