Chinese state media say heavy snowstorms in Tibet have killed six people and trapped thousands.
The official Xinhua agency said Thursday the six victims either froze to death or were crushed by collapsing buildings.
It said the storms, which began on Sunday, dumped more than 60 centimeters of snow in southern parts of the region.
The report said about 17-hundred people are trapped by damaged buildings or blocked roads.
It said another 12-hundred people have been relocated to other villages and are sleeping in schools and government buildings.
Officials sent relief materials such as clothing and tents to the affected areas. Armed policeman and transportation officials are working to clear snow from roads.
