Police in Nepal have arrested some 200 Tibetan exiles during anti-Chinese protests.
Police say the protesters, mostly Buddhist monks and nuns, were detained Tuesday, after marching toward the Chinese embassy in the capital, Kathmandu.
Tibetan exiles have been staging near-daily protests in Nepal since March, when Chinese forces suppressed demonstrations in the Tibetan capital, Lhasa. Protests have intensified since the start of the Olympic Games in Beijing.
Nepal considers Tibet part of China, and bans such demonstrations.
Separately, Nepalese government officials today said the country's new prime minister will travel to China for the closing ceremony of the Olympics. This will be Prachanda's first trip abroad as Nepal's leader.
The former Maoist rebel took the oath of office Monday, after being elected by lawmakers late last week.
