The vice-chairman of the Panchen Lama Reincarnation Committee was finally allowed to visit his monastery Tashi Lhunpo after 11 years. A Sources who wished to remain anonymous said that Ngachen Rinpoche, the former Abbot and Nagkchen of Tashi Lhunpo was finally allowed to visit his monastery Tashi Lhunpo by the Chinese government. Ngachen Rinpoche was dethroned from Abbot of Tashi Lhunpo soon after the Dalai Lama announced in May 1995 that Gedun Choekyi Nyima, six-year-old boy, as the reincarnation of the 10th Panchen Lama who died in 1989. Ngachen Rinpoche was kept under house arrest in Shigatse and then in Lhasa, the source said. The chairman of the search committee Jadhor Rincpoche's whereabouts is unknown even today.
