The UN Declaration of Human Rights བོད་སྐད།

On the 59th anniversary of the UN Declaration of Human Rights, little has changed for a large segment of the world’s population who are deprived of their basic rights by either their own government and society, or through foreign oppression. This week’s Kunleng looks at the principles enshrined in the 1948 Declaration, their impact upon the politics and economy of nations, and their capacity to provide moral and political legitimacy to the Tibetan struggle. Host Changchub Dolma invites Mr. Lobsang Nyendak, former Tibetan cabinet member and former head of Tibetan Center for Human Rights and Democracy, and Dr. Lobsang Sangay, Research Associate at Harvard Law School, to discuss the theory and practice of the UN Declaration and it’s implications for the Tibetan people.
