Dalai Lama to Visit Japan Despite China's Protest

The Dalai Lama is scheduled to visit Japan this week despite China's protest, according to the organizers. Japan's Foreign Ministry says top government officials are not expected to meet the Tibetan leader during his nine-day visit. The Dalai Lama is scheduled to attend a conference in Yokohama and give a speech at a university in the Western city of Ise. The Dalai Lama's recent high-profile meetings with President Bush, German Chancellor Merkel and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper have drawn rebukes from Chinese officials.
