Two Recently Arrested Tibetan Women Released in Lithang


Two Tibetan women who were detained by security police on August 19th in Lithang were released August 27. The two women, Adro and Apha were calling for the release of the Tibetan religious leader Tulku Tenzin Gelek. A spokesperson for Dharamsala based Tibetan Center for Human Rights and Democracy confirmed the release and stated that while this appeared to be a welcome outcome at the moment, there were still around 120 known people who are languishing in prison for peacebly expressing their views.
