When the young Karmapa left Tibet and went into exile in India, it not only shook the Chinese policy in Tibet, and it also became international news. Since then the Karmapa’s well-being and future has become an issue of public concern for Tibetans both inside and outside Tibet. This week’s special edition of Kunleng feature a rare television interview with the Karmapa.

"Tibetans are facing the challenge of being able to survive as people, living with dignity and freedom. This is something we must ponder and must do our best to achieve," said the Karmapa. "We must take the viewpoint that looks far beyond our daily lives and sees the great test that we are facing."

Following the pre-recorded interview, his chief secretary answers the questions from the public.
