After several rounds of direct talks between the Dalai Lama's representative and the Beijing government, the Tibetan exile government's efforts have so far produced no tangible results. The apparent lack of Chinese interest in serious discussions has renewed debate and questions within the Tibetan community about the policy of engagement.
