European Parliament Tibet Intergroup Delegation Expresses its Support for Tibet


Visit of the European Parliament Tibet Inter-Group delegation to Dharamsala yesterday and expressing their support for the Tibetan cause. It is reported that earlier on March 2nd, the delegation met with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and had frank discussion.

Today in a specially convened press conference at Dharamsala, the President of the Intergroup, Mr. Thomas Mann recalled the arrangement of Dalai Lama's visit to the European parliament in the year 2001 and the overwhelming media coverage of the Tibetan issue as well as the continuing support of the European parliament to the Tibetan cause by passing many resolutions and said that the group will never stop from passing Tibet related issues and from organizing campaigns for raising the Tibet issue.

It is also reported that in a press statement issued by the Tibet Intergroup of the European Parliament, the delegation met with His Holiness the Dalai Lama on March 2nd, during which the Dalai Lama briefed the parliamentarians on the progress achieved in the fifth round of talks between the Chinese and Tibetans. Mr. Thomas Mann reiterated in order to see a successful Tibet-China negotiation the Tibet Inter-group would appeal and work up to the highest political level.

During their stay in Dharamsala, the delegation were met my members of the Tibetan Kashag, Chair and Vice-Chair of the ATPD and NGO members. The delegation comprises of eleven members of the European Union and twenty aides to the members of the European Parliament Tibet Inter-Group.
