Nepal’s Boudhanath Buddhist stupa was badly damaged after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal last year. Almost immediately after the earthquake, a reconstruction committee was formed to renovate the damaged stupa. In less than two years of painstaking work by a group of highly skilled artisans, craftsman, and masonries, the reconstruction work was finally completed recently and the stupa is back to its former glory. India based Tai Situ Rinpoche has funded the major portion of the reconstruction work including a donation of 26 kg gold towards the reconstruction efforts. Table Talk invites a member of Boudha stupa reconstruction committee, Mr. Bhu Dhondup to discuss the challenges and the process of the reconstruction work.
