Former Indian Minister Proposes India’s Highest Civilian Award for The Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama presided over the release of three books in Dharamsala, India, one of which is titled, ‘Himalaya Par Lal Chhaya' or, ‘Red Shadow Over The Himalayas’ which is a re-release of a book written in 1965 by Shanta Kumar, former Union Minister of India.

Speaking at the event, the author and BJP political party veteran expressed his gratitude for the Dalai Lama's work in spreading peace and compassion in the world, and called for the Indian government to award the Dalai Lama the 'Bharat Ratnam,' the highest civilian award by the Republic of India.
