Dr. Lobsang Sangay Addresses Tibetan Settlement Officers' Annual Meeting


The representatives of Tibetan settlements in India, Bhutan, and Nepal gathered in Dharamsala, North India for the 11th annual settlement officer's meeting from October 17 to 20.

Dr. Lobsang Sangay, head of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) spoke at the inaugural function and called on the 43 Tibetan settlement officers to follow up on the 2014 Rehabilitation Act passed by Indian Government and to present project plans for the 23 million dollar grant aid awarded to CTA by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) over the next five years.

Tenzin Nawa, Kullu settlement officer and Chonor Samdup, Orissa settlement officer spoke to VOA's Tibetan service on their future plans.

The officers are scheduled to participate in workshops on leadership, 'Middle Way policy,' and seven agendas set for the meeting within the next three days.
