One of the most widely studied scriptural studies in the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism, written by scholar Jetsun Choekyi Gyaltsen (1464-1544) was republished this week from Sera Jey monastery in South India.

Geshe Yama Sonam, one of the monastery’s scriptural tutor took the initiative to republish the collected work with the assistance from ninety of his disciples, by dedicating their spare time in the evenings, early mornings, and holidays over the last four and half years.

Venerable Chime Thinley, Project Assistant tells VOA's Tibetan Service that Geshe Yama Sonam's work will be of great importance in improving the monastic philosophical studies and is considered an accomplishment in the educational field as the books were produced by comparing with the six original sources of scriptures.

The scriptural text written by Jetsun Choekyi Gyaltsen is widely used in many monasteries inside and outside Tibet such as Sera Je, Gaden Jangtse, and other respected monasteries in the traditional Tibetan provinces of Kham and Amdo.

Exile Sera Jey monastery, based in Southern India with over 4000 monks has published the 10 volumes with the help of a Publishing House in Taiwan.
