Five College Students on Solidarity Hunger Strike To Mark Tibetan Uprising Day
Interview with Dhondup Tsering, event organizer and hunger strike participant Tenzin Sangpo, a student of Hampshire College, Emhurst, MA. Tsering said that a group of volunteers, including college students from nearby colleges, are gathering in Northampton to mark the 57th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day, March 10. He said that at least five college students are among the dozen or so who are on Hunger Strike at the area, and that they are also holding a candlelight vigil later in the evening. Sangpo says that he and his college mate, Yingning are among the group sitting on a day’s hunger strike, which he believes is the least he could do considering the sacrifices that Tibetans inside Tibet make daily under very difficult situations.
