To address the issues facing the community like illiteracy, lack of employment opportunities, lack of awareness and information about health, social and civil rights, a group of college graduates in the settlements have decided to form a NGO that can address these issues in their own community. That NGO is called the Social Action Movement or SAM. It is a youth led and youth based NGO based in Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement, South India. It was established in 2012 and over the last few years, it was able to undertake various social, health, educational, language and cultural preservation activities in the communities. Table Talk invites Namgyal Choephel, President of SAM and Penpa Sangpo, Secretary of SAM to discuss the impacts of SAM’s activities in the settlement.
