Tibetans in Delhi Greet Newly Elected Indian Leaders

In order to form the new members of the "All Party Indian Parliamentary Group for the Cause of Tibet", led by a member of the Tibetan Parliament Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, the co-ordinator of the Tibetan Parliament and Policy Research Centre based in Delhi, a group of local Tibetan delegation (Welfare Officer of Tibetans in Delhi, President of Tibetan Freedom Movement, Leader of Tibetan Colony and Representative of Tibetans living near Ladakh Boudh Vihar) met and greeted the newly elected Indian parliament members and government ministers.

On June 3, 2014 the delegation met four ministers: Union Minister of Health, Dr. Harsh Vardhan; Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju; Minister of State for Rural Development, Upendra Kushwaha; and Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan.

They also met newly elected members of Indian parliament including Mr. PA Sangma, former speaker of Indian parliament; Mr. Bhagat Singh Koshyari, former Chief Minister of Uttarkhand; Mr. Neiphiu Rio, former Chief Minister of Nagaland; Mr. PD Rai from Sikkim; Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi of New Delhi; Mr. Thubsten Chewang of BJP and many more.

"We received very nice response from all that we have met. The process of meeting and greeting will continue to form the All Party Parliamentary Group as soon as possible. This group is the oldest parliamentarian group formed in 1970's but members change after every general election, " says Acharya.
