Chinese authorities in Sog County, Nagchu Prefecture of Tibetan Autonomous Region arrested a Tibetan monk on March 16, 2014 whose whereabouts still remain unknown.

Authorities alleged that Choeying Kalden, 20 of Tsandan Monastery, Sog county wrote a poem critical of China’s policy towards Tibetans.

Born to Lhakhyil and mother Bhumzang, Kalden was known for being good in his studies especially Tibetan language, and was a regular contributor to the local publications on Tibetan language, literature, and culture. He has also criticized China’s misrule of Tibet.
