The Tibetan leader in exile, Lobsang Sangay visited the religious and pilgrimage site of Bodh Gaya located in Bihar, Nothern India on July 16, 2013. This visit comes in the backdrop of the series of nine low intensity bomb blasts that shook the world famous Mahabodhi Temple on July 7, 2013.

Immediately upon his arrival, Lobsang Sangay visited all the sites of the bomb blast and prayed at the Mahabodhi Temple for peace, tranquility, and expressed deep sadness over the recent tragic incidents. He said that it was highly unimaginable that a place as sacred as Bodh Gaya could be attacked in such a violent manner since Buddha achieved enlightenment there and Buddhism has always been a peaceful religion.

Leader of the Central Tibetan Administration called on all Buddhists to continue to undertake pilgrimage to Bodh Gaya and not be discouraged by such acts.
