Soon after arriving in Canada in 1999, Thupten and 21 others in his batch started TCPC, a group that supports education of underprivileged Tibetan children in India, Nepal, and Bhutan. Inspired by a speech by the Dalai Lama on needy children, and the fact that they themselves had benefited from Canada’s help and assistance. Tsamotshang, who served as President for the first 10 years, tells VOA that their motto is ‘Tibetans helping Tibetans’.
