Amnesty International Appeals for Immediate Release of Tibetan Political Prisoner, Jigme Gyatso - 2003-07-01

Amnesty International expressed the ill-health of Jigme Gyatso, a 38 year-old monk, who is serving a 15 years prison sentence in Tibet’s Drapchi prison for allegedly forming a group calling for independence for Tibet. AI says he is “very sick and is in a life threatening situation.” AI has urged all its members to write to Chinese authorities, calling for his immediate release.
