Dalai Lama presented today the International Campaign for Tibet’s Light of Truth Award to the people of India during closing ceremony of the Tibetan Festival of Compassion, which had been opened in Delhi since December 12. The Light of Truth Award is one of the most prestigious international awards in the Tibetan movement. It recognizes and honors significant contributions to Tibet and the Tibetan people. Richard Gere, chairman of the ICT’s Board of Directors, said, “Under the leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and with the unconditional and compassionate support of the people of India, the Tibetan people have been able to rebuild both their secular and monastic institutions, so that their distinctive identity not only survive, but also flourish.”
