Tibetan Youth Congress Begins Indefinite Hunger Strike in New Delhi བོད་སྐད།

Tibetan Youth Congress held a press conference after launching "Indefinite Fast for Tibet - Without Food and Water" at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on Monday and declared that the "TYC will launch the second phase of the 'Tibetan People's Mass Movement' on 7th August 2008 in Delhi, during which many direct action campaigns against the Chinese rule in Tibet will be organized." said Tsewang Rigzin, President of TYC. To represent the plight of six million Tibetans, six-person, started an indefinite fast.

To support their courage and determination, around 150 monks from Sera, Drepung and Gaden have arrived in Delhi from South India. "With a hope that all the truth cherishing people will look after the plight of Tibetans living under the repressive Chinese rule, I joined the indefinite fast." says Ven. Sonam Dakpa from Sera Je and asked why he wants to join the movement. The press statement contains five-point demands and four-point appeals. The five-point demand says that to immediately stop the brutal suppression of Tibetans inside Tibet and unconditional release of all the Tibetan political prisoners and so on. And appeals to all the world leaders and athletes to show their solidarity with the Tibetans and protest the holding of Olympics in Beijing.
