First Parent’s Conference in Dharamsala

Kunleng interviews Secretary Topgyal Tsering, Department of Education, CTA, on the agenda and proceedings of the first major conference in the exile Tibetan community focusing on the role of parents and home environment on the outcome of a child’s education.

Over 250 parents and representatives from 43 different settlement schools gathered at the first Tibetan parent's conference organized by the Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamsala, Northern India.

The three day conference, which began on August 11, aimed to provide importance and awareness to the role of parents in improving the education of Tibetan students.

The participating parents discussed their grievances and provided feedbacks, while requesting the Tibetan administration to assist them in their struggle.
