A new study has found that during sleeping, brain flush toxic waste, including protein that is related to Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers, testing on mice, found that during sleep, fluid produced by brain cells washes away wastes that are accumulated during the day time. Rashid Deane, B.Sc., Ph.D. from University of Rochester, tells Healthy Lifestyle that the fluid, after flushing the waste, eventually drains into liver through blood circulation system. “If you don’t sleep for your full sleep period, then you have potential risk of accumulating those waste products and the consequence of that,” he said. The consequences could be Alzherimer’s and other brain related diseases, he added. However, he admits that the researchers are speculating on the consequences at this point because further study is needed to be done.
