RTYC Organizes 8th Tibetan Educational and Cultural Debate (In Tibetan)
The Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Sarah Chapter organized its 8th Tibetan Educational-Cultural debate on Shimla Convention for three days at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah near the Tibetan exile seat of Dharamshala, north India starting August 5, 2014.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by over a hundred Tibetans including Tenzing Jigme, President of Tibetan Youth Congress; Tashi Tsering Director of Amnye Machen Institute; Jamphel Dhakpa, Principal of College of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah; Sonam Gyaltsen, Tibetan MP along with other speakers and students.
Tenpa Dhargyal, President of RTYC, Sarah said that its important to have research materials in Tibetan about the Simla Convention, and to mark the centenary they have invited intellectuals from Exile community to speak or write about the Simla convention to help fill the vacuums in the Tibetan history.
Tenzing Jigme, TYC president praised the regional chapter for preserving the Tibetan culture which is systematically being wiped in Tibet by Chinese policies and he stressed that TYC's Rangzen struggle which is right of Tibetan people and CTA's Middle Way Policy are two different things with no contradiction.
The three days debate will include speakers such as Claude Arpi, Tibetologist; Tri Yungdrung, teacher at Menri Bon monastery; Sherab Woeser, former editor of Phayul.com; Tenzin Nyinjey, researcher at Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy; Tenzin Norgyal from Tibetan Policy Institute; Lobsang Yeshi, Tibetan MP; Rongwo Lobsang Nyendak, Tibetan MP and Sonam Gyaltsen, Tibetan MP.
