The first generation of exile Tibetans worked relentlessly to build a strong foundation for the Tibetan movement in India and worldwide. Chungtak Koren is one of the first Tibetans to arrive in the West in the 1970s, and since then has dedicated her life to advancing the Tibetan cause. She says that Tibetans in exile have a responsibility to make conditions possible for exile Tibetans to return to their homeland, and that they should not be lulled into living a comfortable life in the West. Koren is currently serving as one of the Europe Chidues in the exile Tibetan Parliament.
