Tibetan Women's Association Marks 53rd Anniversary of Tibetan Women's Uprising Day.

Tibetan Women’s Association today commemorated the 53rd anniversary of the Tibetan Women’s Uprising day by honoring Tibetan women who gave up their lives for the Tibetan struggle.
The day comes after the Tibetan national uprising day, held in remembrance of a 1959 failed rebellion in Lhasa against Chinese rule.

At an official event held in Dharamsala, the president of organization Kirti Dolkar Lhamo appealed the international community to show their support for Tibet.

Penpa Tsering, the speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, praised Tibetan Women's Association for taking active role in political and social services in the exile community. Hundreds of Tibetan women took to the streets carrying Tibetan National Flag, placards and shouting slogans.
