Taiwan's intelligence chief says China has developed a new missile that poses a threat to the island.
National Security Bureau Director-General Tsai De-shen told lawmakers Wednesday the new Dongfeng-16 missiles have a longer range than any missiles aimed at Taiwan until now. He did not say whether the new missiles have yet been deployed.
Relations between China and Taiwan have improved recently, but China still has an estimated 1,900 missiles aimed at the island across the Taiwan Strait.
