Day 5 of London Olympics Produces Milestones


The fifth day of competition at the London Olympics produced a series of milestones.

Hungary's Daniel Gyurta won the gold medal Wednesday in the men's 200-meter breastroke, with a world record time of 2 minutes, 7.28 seconds.

China's Lu Xiaojun set snatch and total world records in the men's 77-kilogram weightlifting class.

Australian Lauren Jackson became the all-time leading scorer in Olympic women's basketball history, topping the mark of 488 by U.S. great Lisa Leslie.

And Japan's Kohei Uchimura assumed his place among the greatest male gymnasts. The three-time all-around world champion won the gold medal in the individual all-around final.

Also, in road racing, Bradley Wiggins became Britain's most decorated Olympian by winning a gold medal in the men's time trial. His seveth Olympic medal put him atop former British rower Steve Redgrave.

China and the United States remain far ahead in the total medal count.
