The Miami Heat have won their second straight National Basketball Association title, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 95-88 in the decisive seventh game of their championship series.

Lebron James had 37 points, including five three pointers, and Dwyane Wade added 23 points as the Heat won the best of seven series 4-3.

"Through adversity, through everything we've been through, we've been able to persevere and win back-to-back championships. It's an unbelievable feeling,'' James said after the game.

Miami got a huge contribution off the bench from Shane Battier, who had 18 points on six three-point baskets.

Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 24 points but had a key miss in the final minute that could have tied the score. Miami pulled away after that to win the franchise's third NBA championship.

James was voted the Most Valuable Player of the finals for the second straight season. He was also the MVP of the regular season.

James now joins legendary players Bill Russell and Michael Jordan as the only players to win back-to-back regular season MVPs and NBA titles.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, whose team was seeking its fifth NBA title, was disappointed after the game but praised the effort of his players.

"It's no fun to lose, but we lost to a better team,'' he said. "And you can live with that as long as you've given your best. And I think we have.''
