Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama arrived in Long Beach, California, on May 2, 2011 to begin his US visit.
During this trip the Dalai Lama will is scheduled to participate in programs in five universities in the states of California, Minnesota, Arkansas, Texas and New Jersey.
The Tibetan spiritual leader will be awarded the first-ever "Shine a Light on Human Rights" award from Amnesty International on Wednesday. He will deliver a keynote address during the ceremony.
