Dalai Lama Visits Hungary

The Dalai Lama has wrapped up his sold-out lecture tour in Hungary, where thousands came to hear his Buddhist teachings.

The exiled Tibetan spiritual leader addressed the Hungarian Parliament Monday. The French Press Agency quotes him as expressing confidence that he will one day return to Tibet.

The Dalai Lama's three-day visit was his seventh trip to Hungary. He spoke to audiences of more than 20,000 people and was named an honorary citizen of Budapest by the capital city's mayor Gabor Demszky.

Beijing has regularly protested to governments who welcome the exiled Tibetan monk, saying he is conducting a campaign for Tibet's independence. The Dalai Lama denies the accusation.

The Dalai Lama is scheduled to leave Hungary Tuesday for Passau, Germany.
