Dalai Lama Opens International Conference on Ethics in Globalized World

The Dalai Lama opened a four-day international conference on 'Bounds of Ethics in a Globalized World' at Christ University, Bangalore on January 6, 2013.

The conference organized by Christ University in collaboration with 'Event Partners' is attended by hundreds of delegates and academicians from universities and institutions across 37 countries, including 7 monks from Sera monastery.

Dr. Kurian, the Convenor of the conference said 'the conference aimed to create awareness and understanding of the moral fabric of global affairs'

The Nobel laureate in his opening speech said, "To make 21st century a century of peace and non-violence, we should have a vision of a peaceful world at the end of the century and shared his thoughts on Ethics and Sciences, Ethics and Religions, Ethics and Humanities."

Tibetan students studying at the university gifted the Dalai Lama with a Thangkha and a booklet containing their messages to him.

The Dalai Lama is scheduled to leave tomorrow morning from Bangalore for a day's program in Coimbatore to unveil a Vivekanantha statue to mark 150 years of his birth centenary. He will visit Nagpur, Bandhra, and Raipur before returning to his residence in Dharamsala, Northern India.
