Sweden and East Timor Raise Tibet Issue at UN Human Rights Commission - 2003-03-25


East Timor’s senior and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Jose Ramos-Horta and Sweden’s Foreign Minister Ms. Anna Lindh raised the human rights issue in Tibet in their statements at the 59th session of the UN commission on Human Rights in Geneva. The Swedish Foreign minister said, “… the general situation of human rights and the situation for the Tibetan people remain unacceptable.” However, Chinese say Tibetans enjoy rights, including religious freedom.
