Tibetan Youth Congress Burn Effigy of Chinese Leaders བོད་སྐད།

On 29th of last month of Lunar Tibetan calendar, while Namgyal Dratsang and Kirti Jepa Dratsang (monasteries) performed Torgyak(ritual).

Tibetan Youth Congress and public burnt the effigy of Mao Tsedung and Hu Chin-tao. Ever since this is the first time that the effigies and photos of Mao and Hu are burnt, TYC Secretary says burning of the effigy symbolizes the driving away of the evils of the past year, and at the same time pray for peace freedom in Tibet in the future.

On the 29th day of the 12th month of Tibetan year, that is second last day of the year. According to Tibetan lunar calendar, Tibetans have the tradition of burning effigies to dispel evil and herald a prosperous New Year
