The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts(TIPA) cancelled this year's Yogurt Festival in deference to March Uprising of 2008 when several hundred Tibetans died under Chinese torture. Because of the protests in entire Tibet right from March 10, 2008, The Office of His Holiness has advised TIPA not conduct Shoton Festival in March-April 2009. TIPA Director, Mr. Phasur Wangchuk tells VOA that the Institute and other opera groups are jointly coming out with three special books on the stories- Dowa sangmo, Pema Woebar and Sugkyi Nima coinciding the 50th anniversity of TIPA.
