Beijing Dharamsala Dialog བརྙན་འཕྲིན།

Two representatives of the Dalai Lama are on their way to Beijing today to engage in talks with in the aftermath of the most widespread uprising against Chinese rule in 50 years. Contact and meetings between Beijing and Dharamsala have occurred over the last 30 years but haven’t resulted in any concrete developments. Whether this current meeting will address larger Sino Tibetan issues, or focus on discussions on the immediate course of Tibetan and Chinese actions inside Tibet is uncertain.

Kunleng will look back at the recent history of Sino Tibetan dialog, and the possible short and long term options open to the parties. Tseten Wanchuk, VOA Tibetan Service’s Editor and co-author of Sino-Tibetan Dialogue in the Post-Mao Era: Lessons and Prospects will be our guest.
