Bush Starts Day in China With Church Service

President Bush has begun his first full day in China by attending a Church service, underscoring his message that China should broaden religious freedoms.

The president and Mrs. Bush worshipped Sunday morning at the Gangwashi church, a government approved protestant church in Beijing.

Later in the day, Mr. Bush is scheduled to attend a welcoming ceremony at the Great Hall of the People before meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao.

The two presidents are expected to discuss religious freedom in China along with North Korea's nuclear programs and trade issues.

In his weekly radio address Saturday to the American people, the president called on China to protect intellectual property rights and to create a flexible exchange system for its currency.

After his meeting with President Hu, Mr. Bush will go bicycle riding with Chinese athletes training for the Olympic Games.
