The year 2014 marks the centenary of Simla Convention signed between Tibet and British India in 1914.

The Students for a Free Tibet Chapter in India organized a panel discussion on the convention to mark the centenary, where the speakers were Dr. Dibyesh Anand, Tibetologist and Prof at Westminster College in London, Lobsang Yeshi, an exile parliamentarian and Tenzin Tsundue, a Tibetan poet and activist.

Dr. Dibyesh Anand speaking about the convention, said that he would share what experts may talk about and what lay people should know regarding the convention's significance in showing the world that Tibet was an independent state then.

Lobsang Yeshi citing the historical expert said the representatives of Tibet had many events to overlook before signing the Simla Convention.

Tenzin Tsundue said that when people talk about the international conventions currently, Tibet is missing. He further added that 'there's no way China and India can have a solution without discussing Tibet.'

The McMohan Line, Panchsheel Agreement, and 17 Point Agreement were also included during the discussion at the event.
