As the countdown to Dhondup Wangchen's release starts in earnest, many of his supporters, family members, and well-wishers are expressing optimism at the prospect of his release.

Dhondup Wangchen, a Tibetan filmmaker and activist who has been detained by Chinese authorities since March 2008 on charges related to a 25-minute documentary titled “Leaving Fear Behind” is scheduled to be released from prison on June 5, 2014 after over six years of imprisonment. Many of his supporters believe that he will be released on time, however many remained concerned about his safety, the circumstances, and the conditions of his release.

His family and supporters are getting ready to celebrate his release from prison next month, but at the same time they are also increasing the pressure on the Chinese government by organizing various campaign activities that calls for his timely release in good condition.

Nadine Bauman, Executive Director of Tibet Initiative, Germany said that until Wangchen will be reunited with his family, they will not stop working for him.

Lhamo Tso, wife of Dhondup Wangchen tells VOA that she believes the Chinese authorities will release her husband on time, and the whole family is counting each day with much excitement and anticipation.
